Teaching

 the Leaders

  of Tomorrow

Stratford is owned and operated by two teachers who have over 32 years of combined teaching experience.  As the Administrator and Director of the school, we take an active role in our classrooms on a daily basis.  All of our teachers and aides have college degrees AND extensive classroom experience.  All classes from 4’s up have at least one teacher with a Masters degree.  More than 60% of our teachers have advanced degrees or advanced certificates.  Our teachers are among the highest trained and are highly qualified professionals with years of experience in creating strong educational foundations and inspiring passionate, life-long learners.

About

The Owners

Whitney Whitehurst and Laura Mack are excited to reopen Stratford Preschool. Whitney and Laura both grew up in Virginia Beach and are both graduates of Norfolk Academy. After earning their degrees and returning to the area, they eventually found themselves teaching together at Stratford.

When Covid forced the school to close, Whitney and Laura knew they were a great match to continue Stratford’s legacy and began the search for a new location. Wycliffe Presbyterian recently remodeled their education wing in 2015 with newly updated bathrooms and new classrooms added. It was the perfect fit! Whitney and Laura are so excited to partner with the church and celebrate Stratford’s 51st year!

   Our Philosophy

 What we stand for

Stratford’s philosophy is to view each child as an individual. For over 50 years we have helped each child reach his/her full potential as a caring, giving and loving citizen of the world. The school’s purpose is to promote the development of the young child, ages three to six years, mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally, through the cooperative efforts of teachers, family members and others who are positioned to nurture, stimulate and encourage the child.
